Case Study: Installation of Audio Visual & Signage, PA System and Induction Loop Systems.

Project Overview: 

Clarity UK was contracted by Silcock Dawson to design, a comprehensive set of services including AV Services to 4 flexible conference rooms and 2 video conferencing rooms with IRS, signage and TV services, Public Address (PA) system paging, background music system, IRS TV and signage services, induction loop systems at Buxted constructions new head offices in Rainham, Kent.

The objective was to develop and produce a first-class installation along with the development team at SDP, to provide a fully flexible AV service enabling multiple layouts of 4 combined conference rooms to be controlled via iPads and bespoke project files, 2 x Audio and Video conferencing systems to meeting rooms and to enhance audio communication/music production, ensure accessibility and event involvement for all types of disability throughout the complex.

Project Scope:

Audio Visual (AV) System Installation:

  • Design AV services for local transmission of HD presentation sources from 8 locations within 4 conference rooms (room have removable partitions in order to combine rooms).
  • Full control via wireless touch panels (ipad for this project) programmed with bespoke control files for control and set up by non-technical staff.
  • 65” Screens to 4 off conference rooms
  • Design AV services for 2 x Meeting/Video Conference presentation and Video Conferencing services from 2 locations within 2 conference rooms.
  • Full meeting setup and control via wireless touch panels for set up by non-technical staff.

 Public Address (PA) System Installation:

  • Design, installed and implemented a high-quality PA system to facilitate clear communication across the complex and routing of music services including design, 1st & 2nd fix works, commissioning, training and handover.
  • Integrated the system with other infrastructure to enable seamless operation.
  • Installed loudspeakers, amplifiers, and control units strategically for optimal sound distribution and highly intelligible audio transmissions.

Integrated Reception System (IRS):

  • Complete sitewide coax based IRS TV services installed
  • Digital Roof mounted antenna and satellite rig and head end installed along with signal processing, distribution
  • Multi Outlets to sitewide TV and projector Screens

Induction Loop Systems:

  • Designed and Installed complicated Phase Array induction loop systems to ensure minimal spillover room to room within the key areas conference spaces and meeting rooms and counter systems to the reception desk to assist individuals with hearing impairments inclusivity of all audio services.
  • Configured the system to provide clear audio transmission to hearing aid users.
  • Tested the system for clarity, reliability, and compliance with industry standards and current legislation.

Challenges & Solutions:

  • Integration with the Infrastructure: Our team carefully assessed the site, designed a full set of services for the M&E Consultant and planned the installations to ensure compatibility with planned construction types and linked systems.
  • Complicated meeting room configuration and control: The clients head offices were designed to not only encompass central office staff but to enable multi configuration of conference and meeting spaces but providing simple non technical staff control of the same.
  • Compliance with Accessibility Standards: All installations adhered to regulatory guidelines, standards and current legislations, ensuring accessibility and safety for all users.
  • Minimizing Disruptions: The project was completed in phases following the building phased timelines with minimal interruptions to other trades and local residents.

Outcome: A very successful and slick installation of the AV Services, PA system and induction loop systems delivered on time on budget significantly improved communication, accessibility, and emergency preparedness within the facility. Feedback from stakeholders has been very positive, highlighting the enhanced user experience and operational efficiency.
