Case Study: Installation of PA System, Disabled and Incident Alarm System, and Induction Loop Systems
Project: Cozenton Park Sports Centre
Client: Maybourne & Russell / Wilmot Dixon / Medway Council
Location: Rainham, Kent
Project Overview:
Clarity UK was contracted to install a Public Address (PA) system paging and background music system, pro-sound foreground music system to the studios, a site wide disabled / incident alarm system, and induction loop systems at Splashes Leisure centre Rainham, Kent. The objective was to develop and produce a first class installation along with the development team at Willmott Dixon and to enhance audio communication/music production, ensure accessibility and event involvement for all types of disability throughout the complex, and improve emergency response capabilities within the facility.
Project Scope:
Public Address (PA) System Installation:
- Design, installed and implemented a high-quality PA system to facilitate clear highly intelligible communication across the complex including design, 1st & 2nd fix works, commissioning, training and handover.
- Integrated the system with existing infrastructure to enable seamless operation.
- Installed loudspeakers, amplifiers, and control units strategically for optimal sound distribution and highly intelligible audio transmissions.
Studio Prosound System Installation:
- Design, installed and implemented a high-quality foreground / Prosound system to the multipurpose room / split studios to facilitate clear highly intelligible high power music and wireless microphones for dance and exercise classes along with 2 simple public controlled system within the same space to provide general reinforcement to both split spaces for public events including design, 1st & 2nd fix works, commissioning, training and handover.
- Integrated the system with existing infrastructure to enable seamless operation.
- Installed loudspeakers, sound control racks, and control units strategically for optimal sound distribution and highly intelligible audio transmissions.
Disabled and Incident Alarm System:
- Design, installed and Implemented a combined comprehensive digital fully addressable monitored disabled, Pool and incident alarm system to support individuals with disabilities and enhance emergency response mechanisms throughout.
- Installed emergency pull cords, call points and visual and audible components.
- Ensured compliance with relevant accessibility and safety regulations.
Induction Loop Systems:
- Installed induction loop systems in key areas to assist individuals with hearing impairments.
- Configured the system to provide clear audio transmission to hearing aid users.
- Tested the system for clarity, reliability, and compliance with industry standards and current legislation.
Challenges & Solutions:
- Integration with the Infrastructure: Our team carefully assessed the site and planned installations to ensure compatibility with pre-existing construction types and linked systems.
- Compliance with Accessibility Standards: All installations adhered to regulatory guidelines, standards and current legislations, ensuring accessibility and safety for all users.
- Minimizing Disruptions: The project was completed in phases following the building phased timelines with minimal interruptions to other trades and local residents.
Outcome:
The successful installation of the site wide paging and background music system, disabled and incident alarm system, and induction loop systems delivered on time on budget significantly improved communication, accessibility, and emergency preparedness within the facility. Feedback from stakeholders has been very positive, highlighting the enhanced user experience and operational efficiency.
Conclusion:
This project demonstrates Clarity UK’s expertise in delivering integrated communication and safety solutions. By prioritizing quality performance, accessibility and reliability, we have provided a future-proof system that exceeds the needs of all current and future users.
